Scope of Practice:
- Transport and/or dispose of lead-containing materials.
- Performing lead-abatement work
This course combines Lead Awareness and Lead Abatement Safe Work Practices training, giving workers the knowledge and practical skills to support safe work involving lead-containing materials.
Participants will learn how to recognize potential lead hazards, understand health risks and exposure routes, follow safe work procedures, use appropriate PPE and respiratory protection, assist with containment and work area setup, follow hygiene and decontamination procedures, handle cleanup and waste safely, and understand key employer responsibilities under WorkSafeBC requirements.
The program is designed to support employer compliance with lead instruction and training obligations in British Columbia. Course content is structured around recognized abatement safety principles, practical hazard control methods, and documentation standards so workers can better understand how to perform lead-related work safely under site-specific procedures, an exposure control plan, and competent supervision.
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate of completion confirming they have completed lead awareness and lead abatement safe work practices training.
